Glasses that projected illusions and hypnotized people Glasses that projected 3-D holograms and energy blasts Green Lantern Corps Quarterly #5 (June 1993) Whatever the case, Kilowog could be acting as Hal's anchor for the foreseeable future, bringing him down to Earth when his head is in the clouds.Three of the Harlequins haunt Alan Scott's dreams in Underworld Unleashed - Abyss: Hell's Sentinel #1 She has moved on with her life, perhaps Kilowog can help Hal do the same and leave an old flame behind. He might even help Hal see that trying to get Carol back is one fight he cannot win. Kilowog might be able to see that and point out Hal's wrong choices. It isn't exactly the best behavior if he really wants her to give him another chance. Hal's attempts to win her over have been unsuccessful, and this issue saw him essentially corner her in a jet just to speak to her. At the moment, Hal is also facing an emotional complication with Carol, who has moved on with her life. He's already given Hal the confidence to rise above his recent failures, but Kilowog's skills extend beyond mere career advice. Kilowog has always understood who Hal is at his core, even when his friend cannot. This is just a microcosm of what Kilowog is likely going to be doing for Hal: guiding him through this next stage of his life. Using that encouragement, Hal earned a promotion to the position of co-pilot for Carol Ferris' private jet inside an afternoon. This prompted Kilowog to remind Hal that he is a man who pulls off the impossible on a daily basis, and getting sent to the bottom of the ladder just means he can climb it again, this time with experience. It resulted in his demotion to the mailroom, and Hal was understandably upset that seemingly nothing is going his way. Take what happened in the issue as an example: Hal came back from his first day acting as a test pilot for remotely-controlled drones having accidentally destroyed the one he was piloting. What Kilowog intends to do in his free time has yet to be revealed, but his motivations for joining Hal must have been an effort to keep an eye on the former Green Lantern. Of course, he would follow his old "poozer" into retirement when the United Planets decided to quarantine Earth from the rest of the universe. Kilowog was originally Hal's trainer when he first joined the Green Lantern Corps, so he's quite literally been there since the beginning.
